Description

This is an antique Japanese four level round food box known as a
Jubako
made of ceramic in the Meiji Era (c. 1900). All four levels nest together a lid which is fitted to rest nicely on the top. It is covered in printed transfer
Imari
blue and while kanji for happiness and plum blossoms on branches in a Chinese style, popular at the time.
Having been used lovingly and stored for over a century, it still remains in
fine
condition
. With all four stacked it measures 6″ in diameter by 9″ tall ( 15.5 x 23 cm). A great storage idea or useful for party food.
